Az adatok az Egészségügyi Világszervezet (WHO) és más források alapján a lakosságra jutó öngyilkossági arányok alapján sorolják fel az országokat. A WHO statisztikái az egyes országok hivatalos jelentésein alapulnak, ezért nem pontosabbak, mint az adott országban nyilvánosságra hozott jelentések.

A barna, vörös és narancssárga szín a legmagasabb, a világossárga világszinten közepes, a világos- és sötétzöld a legalacsonyabb értéket jelöli.

Sok országban a forrás éveként vett 2010-es évek eleje még a 2008-ban kirobbant gazdasági világválság után következett, amikor az öngyilkossági arányok globálisan megemelkedtek.
