Alternatív gyógymód

Az alternatív gyógymód összefoglaló kategórianév. A jelenkorban a konvencionális európai kórházi kezelés és gyógyszerezés helyett alkalmazott technikákat nevezik így. Beszélhetünk ugyanakkor kiegészítő (complementary) gyógymódokról, amelyeket a hagyományos terápiával együtt alkalmaznak, hogy javítsák annak hatását. A két típusú nem konvencionális gyógymódtípust lefedi a kiegészítő és alternatív gyógymódok (complementary and alternative medicine (CAM)) kifejezés, amelybe így beletartoznak a nem-tudományos, spirituális és vallási összefüggésű gyógyítási módszerek éppúgy, mint az Európán kívül alkalmazott hagyományos módszerek.

Ez az alternatív és kiegészítő gyógyászat egyik igen fontos csoportja, amely elsősorban a természetes gyógymódokat alkalmazza.
