Wikimenu

The wikimenu is generated by MediaWiki:Gadget-wikimenu.js, and requires MediaWiki:Gadget-hoverintent.js, MediaWiki:Gadget-supersubs.js, MediaWiki:Gadget-superfish.js, MediaWiki:Gadget-jquery-tools-tabs.js (these are external jQuery plugins). The contents of the menu come from Template:Wikimenü, which is included through Template:Fejléc (which adds breadcrumbs, tabs and other extras in addition to the dropdown menu). The whole thing is loaded from MediaWiki:Common.js with a mw.loader.load('ext.gadget.wikiMenu'); call and two gadget definitions (Special:Gadgets/export/wikiMenu, Special:Gadgets/export/wikiMenuDependencies). (This was a quick hack to make it compatible with the ResourceLoader, and could be probably done better.)

LiquidThreads opt-in was requested in bugzilla:22909, and it turned out to be not mature enough yet for real use. Since then, the codebase underwent a major rewrite and it is now rewritten a second time; until that is finished, it is unlikely that they will enable it on new wikis. (It seems to be a low priority task for the WMF, so it might take a while.)
