Name of the Hang - Title of the article[szerkesztés]

Firstly excuse me that I write in English, but I cannot speak Hungarian. I'm the author "Ixkeys" of the German Wikipedia article "Hang (Musikinstrument) http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_(Musikinstrument)" and found the new Hungarian article today. My congratulation that the Hungarien Wikipedia now has an own article about the Hang.

I noticed that the title of the article is "Hang dob". Also in the article, the Hang is often named "Hang dob". I think this is the translation of the English "hang drum", a name often used in the internet for the Hang. I understand the reason for this: Hang has in Hungarian another main meaning: sound. In German there is a similar problem: Hang in German means slope.

However the Hang makers from PANArt Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer stated that the name "hang drum" is not the correct name for their instrument. They reject this name because it isn't able to describe the properties of the Hang. A Hang is not a drum. The name "hang drum" was invented by a former US Hang distributor ( http://www.hangblog.org/2008/01/30/hang-lexicon/#hangdrum ). Wikipedia is a very important resource for information on the Hang. Therefor I think Wikipedia shouldn't support a wrong name for the instrument.

So how to solve the Problem? In the German Wikipedia we solved the Problem by choosing the title "Hang (Musikinstrument)" for the article and used consistently the name "Hang" in the article. Also for the English Wikipedia article the title "Hang (musical instrument)" was chosen: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_(musical_instrument) to distinguish the musical instrument Hang from "to hang". I suggest to do the same in the Hungarian article. --78.94.169.108 (vita) 2008. december 31., 17:23 (CET) (Ixkeys in the German Wikipedia)Válasz

Thanks for the info. Its name confused me at first, because I thought it means sound (and then it should be one word, hangdob) but after seeing the artcile's foreign versions I realized Hang is its name. Hang (instrument) would be hang (hangszer) in Hungarian, which sounds odd so I named it Hang (ütőhangszer) ("percussion instrument"). It's a cool instrument BTW, I listened to the sound samples yesterday, I liked them :) Happy New Year! ~ Alensha  hö? 2008. december 31., 23:19 (CET)Válasz
Wow. Thank you for your corrections. It is absolutely right! Thank you. It raises interesting linguistic (semantic) problems though. I propose the use of capital H in the name of the instrument to avoid these problems. Mrszantogabor Nyomogasd itt 2009. január 1., 12:38 (CET)Válasz
I understand that in Hungarian it is a higher linguistic challenge than in German, because hang=sound is a musical related term. Using capital H is a good idea. The Hungarian Wikipedia article is now listed in the Hang Internet Index ( http://www.hangblog.org/2006/11/27/the-hang-internet-index/ ). You can add this web page to the weblinks of the article if you like. It lists all interesting internet resources about the Hang. Capital letter can be used only if it's a proper noun (like a registered trademark). If it's a common noun, it has to be lowercase, but maybe a short notice about the name can be added to the beginning of the article. – Alensha sms 2009. január 1., 18:36 (CET)Válasz

A lektor sablon indoklása[szerkesztés]

Mind a mély hanghoz (Ding) lett harmonikusan hangolva.”

Outdated information on Hang distribution[szerkesztés]

The following outdated information about Hang distribution was restored:

"2008 júniusától a svájci cég szünetet jelentett be, a hozzájuk beérkezett kérő leveleket azonban megőrzik egy esetleges későbbi újraindulás esetére."

I was asked to substantiate why this information is outdated: This information regarding a "break" and that letters are kept for later refers to a temporary break of a few months in 2008 that is completely irrelevant for the current situation. We have either to describe the whole history of Hang distribution (I think this is to long for the article) or to describe the current situation. It doesn't make sense to mention just a single event in 2008 which is not comparable with the current situation. A short article about Hang distribution you can find in German in the Hanglexikon: http://www.hangblog.org/das-hanglexikon/#vertrieb The following short English article describes the situation in 2011: http://www.hangblog.org/2011/02/16/information-on-the-hang-in-the-year-2011/ Following the comments you can see what happened since then. --178.200.254.177 (vita) 2012. április 10., 19:00 (CEST) (I am user Ixkeys in the German and English Wikipedia and main author of the German Hang article)Válasz

A Hang a kultúrában[szerkesztés]

I deleted the following statement: "A hangszer Tóth Barnabás Rózsaszín sajt című 2009-es filmjének központi motívuma." I deleted it because of the following reasons:

1) Under the topic "Hang in culture" the only information is, that it was used for the soundtrack of special movie. This is as if in the article about the piano is written: The piano was used in the film xyz. This is just an irrelevant information.

2) There is no reference for the information that really a Hang was used in this movie. --178.200.254.177 (vita) 2012. április 10., 19:13 (CEST) (I am user Ixkeys in the German and English Wikipedia and main author of the German Hang article)Válasz
