A Periphylla periphylla a kehelyállatok (Scyphozoa) osztályának a koronamedúzák (Coronatae) rendjébe, ezen belül a Periphyllidae családjába tartozó faj. Nemének eddig az egyetlen felfedezett faja.

Tudnivalók

A Periphylla periphylla mélytengeri csalánozófaj. Előfordulási területe a Csendes- és az Atlanti-óceánok északi részei, valamint a Mexikói-öböl. Az állat biolumineszcenciára képes.
