Jane Gloriana Villanueva is a fictional character in the CW’s television series Jane the Virgin. Jane is portrayed by Gina Rodriguez, by Montse Hernandez as a teenage girl and by Jenna Ortega as Young Jane in the flashbacks. The dramedy portrays the complicated life of Jane and her family.

Jane Gloriana Villanueva was born June 4 1991, when her mother, Xo, was 16. She is a Venezuelan- American girl, because her grandparents are immigrants from Venezuela. Jane grew up with her Mom and Abuela (grandma) in 580 Doral Street, Miami, Florida 33125. She passionately wants to become a writer.

Jane Gloriana Villanueva is a Venezuelan American, who lives in Miami. As a religious woman she vowed to save her virginity until marriage, because her Abuela taught her the importance and pureness of virginity. However, she was mistakenly artificially inseminated during an OB/GYN checkup. To make matters worse, the donor has a wife, he is the owner of the hotel, where Jane works at that time and also her teenage crush. The first season shows Jane’s struggle with the pregnancy, the thought of becoming a mother and the hardness of choosing between her boyfriend and her baby’s daddy. Above all she also has to deal with her studies and professional works. As the baby arrives, thus the series evolves, the main questions are the raising of the child, her career as a writer, and the family members also starts to have an own plotline.
