Text Appearing Before Image: D DAY J\ yiEADE reached Gettysburg at one a.m., July^ ^ ^ 2d, and as soon as it was light he made aninspection of his lines. In this inspection he foundthe Eleventh Corps occupying Cemetery Hill.Schurzs division was across the Baltimore pike,with Steinwehrs on the left and Am.ess on theright and rear. Wadsworth, of the First Corps,was on Amess right. Robinson was on the left ofvSteinwehr, his line extending to Zieglers Grove.As other troops came up in the morning they wereassigned places in the line as follows: the TwelfthCorps at Gulps Hill on Wads worths right; theSecond Corps along Cemetery Ridge; Hays andGibbons divisions, from Zieglers Grove to theclump of trees; Caldwells to the short ridge to itsleft and rear. The Third Corps was directed toextend Hancocks line, relieving Gearys divisionwhich during the night had held the extreme leftof the line as far as Little Round Top.
