Public domain According to the Romanian Law on Copyright and Neighboring Rights Law no. 8/1996 of March 14, 1996 with further amendments Chapter 3 Article 9 the following documents shall not benefit from the legal protection accorded to copyright:

  • (c) official symbols of the State, public authorities and organizations, such as armorial bearings, seals, flags, emblems, shields, badges and medals;
  • (d) means of payment;
  • (e) news and press information;
  • (f) simple facts and data.

Also, according to Chapter 10 Article 85 Paragraph 2,

  • The photographs of letters, deeds, documents of any kind, technical drawings and other similar papers shall not benefit from the legal protection accorded to copyright.

Therefore this image is assumed to be in the public domain worldwide, although some of the above categories may be subject to usage restrictions within Romania.

Română: Descrierea stemei:

Stema comunei Alţâna, potrivit anexei nr. 1.1, se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, despicat. În partea dreaptă, în câmp roşu, se află o dangă pentru înfierat vitele în forma literei T, peste care se află Âľ de cerc, din care ies două coarne, totul de aur. În partea stângă, în câmp albastru, se află o cristelniţă de argint. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu un turn crenelat. Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate: Danga pentru vite folosită în secolul al XVII-lea evocă marca juridică a comunei după colonizarea saşilor, fiind cuprinsă în Scaunul Altina, datat 1291. Cristelniţa datează din anul 1404 şi a fost păstrată în biserica fortificată din localitate. Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de comună.
