A 2012-es International V8 Supercar Championship a tizenhatodik szezonja volt a V8 Supercars bajnokságnak. A bajnokság március 1-jén vette kezdetét a Clipsal 500-zal, Adelaideben és december 2-án ért véget Homebush Street Circuiten megrendezendő versenyen.

  • Egyversenyes hétvége: Ilyen versenyeken két versenyző ül egy autóban. A normál pontrendszerhez képest 2-szeres szorzó van érvényben.
  • Kétversenyes hétvége: A Bathurst 1000, Gold Coast 600, Sandown 500 és aTrading Post Perth Challenge kivételével minden versenyen használatos pontrendszer.
  • Háromversenyes hétvége: a Trading Post Perth Challenge-en a Barbagallo Racewayen kettő helyett három versenyt rendeznek. A pontrendszer egyenletesebben oszlik meg a három versenyen.
  • Gold Coast: Mind a 28 versenyző mellé kötelező szerződtetni egy "nemzetközi versenyzőt" erre a futamra,[73] akinek a pontjai beleszámítanak a bajnokságba. A "nemzetközi versenyző" olyan lehet, aki Ausztrálián kívül versenyzik a teljes szezonos versenyzővel szemben, valamint a jogosítványa nem Ausztráliában vagy Új-Zélandon lett kiállítva.
