English: Today the Bouddhanath stupa is completely surrounded by modern settlements. In the past five decades, as many as 50 Buddhist gompas (monasteries) have also been constructed nearby. The main circle now has an array of shops, mainly for tourists. Bouddhanath continues to function as one of the most important Buddhist temples and has a constant flow of workshippers and tourists circling the stupa clockwise, and turning the hundreds of prayer wheels around it.

In den letzten fünf Jahrzehnten wurden in der Nähe der Stupa um die 50 buddhistische Gompas (Klöster) gebaut. Auf dem Hauptplatz stehen hautsächlich Geschäfte für Touristen. Trotz des Tourismus ist Bouddhanath weiterhin einer der wichtigsten buddhistischen Tempel, an dem sich Hunderte von Gläubigen und Touristen treffen, die im Uhrzeigersinn um die Stupa gehen und die Gebetsmühlen drehen.

Au cours du demi-siècle écoulé, pas moins de 50 monastères bouddhistes (gompas) se sont construits à proximité. Autour de la stupa se sont installées de nombreuses boutiques principalement destinées aux touristes. Néanmoins, Bouddhanath reste l'un des temples bouddhistes les plus importants autour duquel adorateurs et touristes effectuent leurs circumambulations en faisant tourner les moulins à prières.
