Descrierea stemei și semnificațiile elementelor însumate: Stema comunei Horodnic de Jos se compune dintr-un scut care reprezintă câmpul pe care se găsesc celelalte elemente de heraldică. Imaginea stilizată a bisericii din lemn Călugărița ocupă un loc central, având valoare de simbol al comunei. Arborii din stânga și dreapta (foioase și conifere) arată specificul vegetației din zonă, iar vizibilitatea rădăcinilor simbolizează istoria străveche a așezării. Un alt element grafic este frânghia sau „funia vieții”, preluat din sculptura meșterilor care au ctitorit biserica din lemn Călugărița. Crucea din registrul superior al compozitiei, stânga, simbolizează caracterul creștin al oamenilor locului. Bourul din dreapta subliniază apartenența la ținutul Bucovinei și al Moldovei. Linia curbă care delimitează culoarea verde din fundal de cea argintie simbolizează relieful deluros al zonei și situl arheologic de movile funerare (tumuli) de pe dealul Colnic. Scutul este timbrat cu o coroană murală cu un turn de argint care semnifică faptul că așezarea este comună.

Therefore this image is assumed to be in the public domain worldwide, although some of the above categories may be subject to usage restrictions within Romania.
