A 2012-es MotoGP-világbajnokság a sorozat hatvannegyedik idénye. A szezon április 8-án kezdődött és november 11-én ért véget. A versenynaptár tizennyolc versenyt tartalmazott.

Szabályváltozások[szerkesztés]

A MotoGP-ben szereplő motorok hengerűrtartalma 800-ról 1000 köbcentiméterre változik.[1]

A MotoGP-ben lesznek olyan csapatok (angol megnevezéssel Claiming Rule Teams, CRT), amelynek a többi csapattal ellentétben, a kisebb költségvetés miatt több motorblokkot kapnak (a hat helyett tizenkét erőforrást), valamint versenyenként három literrel több benzint.[2][3]

Számos új csapat adta be nevezését a 2012-es szezonra. Ezek a Moto2-ben az Interwetten Paddock, Forward Racing, a Marc VDS, a Kiefer Racing, a Speed Master és a BQR-Blusens (később Avintia Racing.[4][5] További két csapat, a Paul Bird Motorsports és a Ioda Racing kapott rajtengedélyt CRT-szabályozás alatt.[6][7]

Ettől a szezontól kezdve engedélyezetté vált ismét a versenyek közötti tesztelés azzal a megkötéssel, hogy a MotoGP pilótái 120, míg a Moto2 és Moto3 versenyzői 60-60 szett abroncsot használhatnak el erre a célra. Amennyiben a kvalifikáción valakinek nem sikerül megfutni az indulásra jogosító 107%-ot, akkor az a verseny előtti warm-up-on is megteheti. Engedélyezetté vált a rajtrácson az indítómotor és a gumimelegítők használata is, utóbbit egy perccel a zöld lámpák elalvása előtt kell levenni. Az esős viadalokon kötelező lesz a piros zárófény használata és a MotoGP motorjainak tömege 153 kg-ról 157-re nő.[8] A MotoGP kategóriájában a nem CRT motorok csak olyan karbonfékekkel rendelkezhetnek, melyek külső átmérője 320 mm, és kötelezővé válik a fékprotektor is. Utóbbi minden kategória minden versenygépén.[9]

Az előzetes versenynaptárat 2011. szeptember 14-én tették közzé.[10] Később ehhez képest a katari nagydíj egy héttel előrébb került.[11]
